History

Cumberland Gap National Historical Park, Eastern Kentucky
In 1996, Dr. Tim Jordan founded Health Promotion Consulting Services. Since then, he provided many beneficial services to many different organizations. See the “Reviews” page on this website.
In July 2022, Dr. Jordan changed the name of his business to the 1795 Group and added his sister, his wife and adult children, talented friends, former students, and current graduate students to the fold. He then proceeded to host many undergraduate and graduate public health students who did practicum and internship experiences with the 1795 Group. Dr. Jordan then sold his home the Toledo area, retired in June of 2024, and moved 165 miles east (25 miles east of Cleveland Ohio) to be close to his son, his daughter in law, and 3 of 4 grandkids. His 4th grandchild lives in the Nashville, TN area.
Dr. Jordan continued hosting public health students until June of 2025. He continues to be active in public health by writing and helping doctoral students finish their dissertations.
He selected the name 1795 to honor Jonas Jordan, his great-great grandfather, who was born in 1795 in Virginia. Jonas was good, kind, honest, and compassionate. At age 22, he married a widow whose first husband died tragically in an accidental explosion. Jonas adopted her two small boys, and the young Jordan family made the arduous, 300-mile journey by covered wagon to Lawrence County, Kentucky (KY).
Two generations later, Dr. Jordan’s father (Clyde) was born near that same location.

Clyde Jordan (circa 1936), bottom right, Eastern Kentucky
Dr. Jordan’s ancestors on both sides of his family are from Eastern KY.
The accompanying picture (circa 1936), shows Dr. Jordan’s dad (Clyde) when he was about 3 years-old (the little boy at the bottom right), his dad’s siblings, and his dad’s mom, Cora Jordan.
The Jordans were resourceful and hard-working. They trapped, hunted, fished, and grew what they could and canned vegetables from their garden for the winter.
They did not have electricity, running water, refrigeration, an indoor bathroom, gas furnace, nor air conditioning.

The same character qualities that made Jonas Jordan the outstanding man that he was are the same character qualities that have been passed down to Dr. Tim Jordan: honesty, humility, compassion, and hard work.
